Dazzelle B. received an Honorable Mention

     At the end of the year, the Word Masters folks send out a list that includes three categories of national individual recognition for each grade level of Word Masters: Highest Honors, High Honors and Honorable Mention.  This year, we had two students place in two of the categories.

     Emily Y. received High Honors for a total score from the three meets that was among the top 2% of those who competed in the third grade across the nation.  Dazzelle B. received an Honorable Mention for having a total score that was among the top 10% of fifth graders competing across the country.

   Congratulations to both of these students for being nationally ranked in this most challenging of compeititions!

     First, it must be said that all students who participated in Word Masters deserve credit.  This is not an attempt to make everyone feel warm and fuzzy but an acknowledgement of the rigor involved in the process of learning to apply 75 challenging vocabulary words to analogy puzzles–it’s hard work!

     With that said, we have finished the final meet for the year and want to share the names of the top performing students.

     We had another student, Dazzelle B., score a 19/20 on this meet.  When Emily Y. scored a 19/20 on meet 2, she was one of only 207 of 24,050 third graders in the country to do so, putting her in the top 2% of the nation!  More on this when we get the final data from the Word Masters folks.
