Middle School Info Night
This year Landstown Elementary hosted the Middle School Information Night. Fifth graders and their parents from LES and four surrounding schools came out to hear from representatives from the Middle Years Program at Plaza (MYP) and Kemps Landing Magnet School (KLMS). Applications for both programs are due no later than Tuesday, February 1, 2011. Be sure to request your teacher referrals ASAP so that teachers have time to thoughtfully complete their portion of the application.
MYP does not require gifted identification but does provide a challenge for participants. Use this link to learn more about MYP:

Only students who have been identified as gifted will be considered for acceptance to KLMS. However, a student who is not yet identified can apply. All students will be tested. Students formerly identified and newly identified as gifted will then be considered for acceptance.

KLMS will also have an open house on Tuesday, January 11 and Wednesday, January 12, 2011.
All identified gifted students also had the opportunity to meet with the Landstown Middle School Gifted Resource Teacher, Diane Tarkenton, prior to the info night to learn about the gifted services in the regular middle school
