I made a mistake in dates on the staff newsletter. The Variety Show is on April 23rd, so we will tentatively move the PTA Overnight Camp-Out to May 7th. I will check with the PTA Board to see if May 7th is workable for everyone! I’ll keep you posted -

SchoolNet Parent Portal is a powerful online tool for parents and guardians to monitor their child’s progress in school. Best of all, it can be accessed from any computer connected to the Internet – 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Parents will have access to important current school year information such as:
• Grades
• Attendance records
• Student assignments
• Missing assignments
• Standardized test scores (Example: SOL and Standford 10)
• Sign up for e-mails notifying parents when their child has an unexcused absence or receives a certain class grade; detailed attendance reports, detailed assignments, reports and grade summary reports.
To register for access to the Parent Portal visit www.vbschools.com/schoolnet/. Once you register, you will receive an e-mail containing a PIN number. Bring that e-mail and a valid picture ID to Three Oaks Elementary School for verification. You can come by our office at any time to do this, and we will be hosting evening verification sessions on the following dates and times.
• February 23 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
• February 25 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Good morning! I am pleased to announce three of our students who were recognized last night at the PTA Citywide Reflections awards:
Colin Wilson won first place in the city for Film/Videography grade K-2
Morgan Wilson won third place in the city for Film/Videography grade 3-5
Henry Lynam won honorable mention in the city for Visual Arts grade 3-5
Colin’s entry also won first place in the Hampton Roads district competition, and his entry will now be entered at the state level. We are very proud of our three citywide winners!
I am also sharing the revised school calendar for the remainder of the year. The date for progress reports third grading period has been revised.

Thursday awards assemblies will include Reflections certificates for those students who participated in the Reflections contest. We are proud to say we have at least one citywide winner who will be recognized on Thursday evening at Plaza Middle School – on Friday the name/s will be announced here at Three Oaks!
Founders Day Dinner (February 25th) sounds exciting with a Chinese New Year theme. The dinner and the activities to follow both in the cafeteria and the gym will be entertaining to all who attend. Where else can you feed a family of four for $20? Sounds like a bargain to me – hope to see you there!
