Our theme this year will be Reading is a Wonderland.  We will be celebrating a different genre each week, beginning with poetry

Week 1: January- 3^rd- January 6^th:

Poetry Land . The Loud Poet Guy assembly is  January 6^{th. Thank you PTA!}

Week 2:  January 9-January 13^th: Mystery Land

Week 3:  January 16-20th  Picture book Land

Week 4:  January 23^rd -27 th Information Land

Week 5: January 30^th= Feb 3^rd  Fantasy Land- Math Literacy Night with our Alice in Wonderland Theme.

We will be celebrating the genre of the week with different activities each day:

Mondays: Morning Announcements: Children will learn about the genre through a multimedia presentation on morning annoucements.

Tuesday: Sample book reviews in the genre by Providence kids wll be showcased on the morning annoucements.

Wednesday: We will have a celebrity guest reader

Thursday:   We will  highlight  books from our library that fall in this genre. Special books are wonderland books- readers who check out this book will receive a special readerly prize. Classes will respond to a blog question around the genre.

Friday: DEAR at 2:00-2:15-  Providence students will get a musical signal to read .

Parents are invited to be mystery readers for their child’s class all month long. Please ask your child’s teacher about the details!
